    IB Brief Introduction

    The International Baccalaureate (IB) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as a nonprofit educational foundation.Currently,there are 3,966 schools in 147 countries offeringfour IB programmes to over 1,240,000 students.

    The IB offers four high-quality and challenging educational programmes, the PYP, MYP, DP and CP , to a worldwide community of schools. These IB programmes, for students aged 3 to 19, help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Teaching and learning in the IB celebrates the many ways people work together to construct meaning and make sense of the world. Through the interplay of asking, doing and thinking ,this constructivist approach leads towards open, democratic classrooms. An IB education empowers young people for a lifetime of learning, both independently and in collaboration with others. It prepares a community of learners to engage with global challenges through-inquiry, action and reflection.

    The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help create a better and more peaceful world. The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools.
